Yesterday was National Apple Pie day, and leftover pie means it’s time for an Apple Pie Milkshake! Steve and I have made these before and posted them on my personal instagram feed. A few friends were asking about them, and this seemed like the perfect follow up to yesterdays Cheaters Apple Crumble Pie recipe. This one’s for you mom & dad, but you can always leave out the booze for the kids 😉
This recipe is simple, decadent, and boozy. It does require a pretty decent blender to ensure you can break down the pie though. Unless you like a chunky milkshake, in which case any blender will work!
Apple pie and ice cream go hand and hand. We live in Wisconsin and it’s the brandy capital of the world, so there is always some around. Add milk, some ice and you’ve got an adult friendly milkshake. It’s a great way to end the day and a fun way to get rid of extra pie!
We have a Vitamix A2300 Ascent Series Blender and it works amazingly for smoothies and milkshakes. You could probably trick the kids and throw vegetables in this and they would never know thanks to the blender. You might need to start with a blueberry pie, instead of apple, though to hide anything green!
The apple pie milkshake could easily be a strawberry rhubarb pie milkshake, or peach pie milkshake or berry pie milkshake. Whatever pie you happen to have a slice or two extra of throw it in the blender and enjoy!
