Hi, my name is Natalie and I love food. I grew up just outside of Toronto, Ontario Canada and moved to the Midwest in 2017. Why? For love of course! Steve grew up in Wisconsin. His family and kids are here, so for now, so are we. In the last few years, we’ve had the opportunity to work from home and travel to meet clients and colleagues. Whenever we’re on the road, we love finding cool local places to eat and drink.
Wisconsin is famous for beer and cheese. If you aren’t careful it’s easy to put on more than just a few pounds! We started meal planning in an effort to consciously think about what we were eating. Not everything we make is healthy, but we do try! Sourcing local, cooking from scratch and saving a few calories for our favo(u)rite libations are key in our planning. We also try to do what we consider eating / drinking appropriately! If you’re making Mexican, you need to have tequila (or at least a decent Mexican beer!). At the Packers Game – no wine drinking here! Grab a brawt, a beer and cheer your face off!
We’re excited to share the food and drinks we love, the kitchen tools we use and some of the great spots we find when we travel.
We’d love to hear from you, and can’t wait to bring this exciting adventure to life!

Q&A With Natalie & Steve
Want to learn more about us and MBS? Submit a question below and we’ll try to answer it here!
Why did you call the blog Maple Bacon Something?
(N) Steve actually came up with the name. We had been throwing around about a half dozen and had even asked some family and friends for their opinion and suggestions. I was in the shower one morning and he comes busting in to tell me “he has the best idea ever – MAPLE BACON SOMETHING!” His theory was, people always stop when they see something that has Maple Bacon in the description…. I started playing with the logo and that’s how we settled on it.
What’s your cooking style?
(S) At least the first time through, I want the specific directions. Tell me what to do when and how much. Next time, I can try something different, add or take away, but the first time, I’m not even going to change batch sizes.
(N) Following a recipe is hard for me, and writing one even harder! I tend to have a basic plan and then just start throwing in things I think will work together and futzing with it until it’s what I want.
