This week is our Wedding Anniversary. Steve and I have been married 3 years. We married at a local brewery, served BBQ, pizza and Oreos, and kept it low key. This week we are highlighting a great buttermilk roast chicken for an easy Anniversary Dinner. We also wanted to showcase some of our local(ish) favorite beverages.
When you are celebrating, it doesn’t alway have to be fancy. Simple, inexpensive, and made with love is often enough. Find ways to connect to memories from that day and turn them into your own traditions. Our love of local wine, beer and booze has us incorporating those things into most meals, but especially celebrations.
This Week’s Menu
Our Anniversary Dinner featured Buttermilk Roasted Chicken over Cabbage, and Roasted Carrots with Fresh Dill. The chicken is easy, which means you can spend more time with the one(s) you love than in the kitchen fussing. The chicken is juicy and tender, and the cabbage is silky and rich. Pair it with any vegetable or starch, but the carrots we posted are a perfect side. Since we were married at the Fermentorium, beer tends to be on our Anniversary menu. We have traditionally also shared some Batch 1 Rye Whisky from Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers as a nightcap to end the day.
And Things We Love
The local brewery we have been Mug Club members of for years also hosted our wedding. With lots of selection, you’re sure to find a beer that suits your mood. If you’re in the Cedarburg, WI area, definitely check out The Fermentorium.
Dillon’s Small Batch Distillery is about 30 minutes from where I grew up in Ontario. With a wide variety of spirits and bitters they are a highlight of any tour to the Niagara Region. We highly recommend a visit!
We’re looking forward to many more anniversary dinners and can’t wait to share them with you. Whatever you are celebrating, make your own traditions and keep cooking!
Cheers!
