The kid asked for Poutine on Sunday and since we already had plans for lunch and dinner, I figured we’d have Poutine for Breakfast!
I’m Canadian, and living in Wisconsin, cheese curds are easy to find. This isn’t exactly sophisticated, and it uses a lot of packaged items, but for a quick breakfast it sure hit the spot. The little one loved it and wants to know when we can have it again!
Add some bacon or sausage to the top and you have a full breakfast. The kid loved poutine for breakfast and it reminds me of home! I am pretty sure we’re going to have to do this again. The birthplace of Poutine is Quebec, but you can get it just about anywhere in Canada now. There is a restaurant in the Toronto area that specializes in Poutine. If you’re heading that way, and want Poutine, check this out https://smokespoutinerie.com/ – get it traditional to start and go from there!
You have to get the oven fries that crisp up though. If you have soggy fries and cover them in gravy they just aren’t the same. Shredded cheese will work but those squeaky choose curds are so much better.
Breakfast Poutine with Bacon
The trick to a great fried egg is using a really good pan. I have a pan I only use for eggs. It gets hand washed and is always protected in my pot drawer. If you’re looking for a great egg pan, I highly recommend this one by al-clad!
