Beers and burgers go great together. It would have been easy to recommend another of our favorites this week. However, when I went to the grocery store I came across a Throwback Thirsty Thursday favorite. I have had some great craft cider, and this definitely falls under the more commercial category, but it’s still a nostalgic go to! Woodchuck Hard Cider has been around since 1991, and was one of the first USA over-21 purchases I made that wasn’t a wine cooler.
It’s naturally gluten free, unlike some of the early ciders that were malted beverages. My cousin, who is celiac, pointed that out and that made the purchase easy, since it meant she could partake as well. They have expanded their lineup since the early years. However, this Amber is the one I remember.
Although we drink a lot of beer, sometimes it’s nice to take a break. A cider is a great option if you’re not looking for wine or to spend the time to make a full on cocktail. Steve usually finds them too sweet, so these only take up space in the fridge for me. For a lighter feeling meal, pair this with our Caprese Portobello Burger.
I likely won’t ever go back to wine coolers. But, I do sometimes love a Throwback Thirsty Thursday and this Woodchuck Hard Cider fits the bill! What is your throwback old school drink of choice? When you first were able to drink, what did you get that you likely wouldn’t order now? Leave us a comment below and let us know!
